Magnate Technology Co., Ltd., based in the Southern Taiwan Science Park, specializes in material processing, and has the production capability to handle aluminum alloy, steel and the super alloys used in turbine engines, landing gear, flight control actuation systems, etc. It is Taiwan's only landing gear component manufacturer and the sole supplier of Sumitomo in Japan, a global manufacturer of Tier 1 landing gear systems for small- to medium-sized aircraft.
With the guidance and aid of the Traditional Industry South Team of the MOEA in the development of new products and industrial collaboration, Magnate has successfully developed a landing gear structure system, an aircraft engine suspension system, and a shot peening system for steel materials used in landing gear and actuation systems. Magnate's capability has been highly recognized by the aviation clients in Taiwan and abroad. Such prestige enabled it to be granted the Potential Taiwan Mittlestand Award from the MOEA in 2015.
Responding to the government's industrial upgrading policy, Magnate devotes its efforts to improving its capability to produce landing gear for small- to mid-sized commercial aircraft and private wide-body aircraft, including the titanium alloy component for the new-generation Airbus A350 XWB, under a 10-year contract with Safran S.A.
Despite general economic uncertainty, the aviation industry is still experiencing growth. According to a global aviation giant, a demand of 3,800 new aircraft is expected in the next 20 years, with a value of US$5.6 trillion. Taiwan's aviation industry, with decades of technical capability and international cooperation experience, is also seeing opportunities to soar to new heights.
