To promote high value and intelligent development for precision machinery, the Industrial Development Bureau (IDB) has consigned the Precision Machinery Research & Development Center (PMC) to assist the machine tool, industrial machine and robot industries to develop critical technologies, increase quality and add value to domestic equipment to strengthen their industrial competitiveness.
Through this assistance and promotion, the PMC has helped potential backbone enterprise SOCO Machinery execute a “smart manufacturing schedule of machine parts system” that features access to visualization of machine information and status, increasing predictability, as well as “Taiwan Filler Tech”, the biggest enterprise providing filling machines, to develop a positioning system to be used in closing milk cans, and an AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) sensor module to achieve the goal of upgrading technology in the filling machinery industry. The PMC also helped Quanta Storage develop a robot disassembly unit with visual integration to intelligently identify cell phone components’ location and size, disassembling them automatically, which not only reduces personnel training and rework loading but also enlarges the robot application market.
Based on the Smart Machinery Industry Promotion Program, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) plans to establish a Smart Machinery Promotion Office at the PMC on February 7th, 2017 to serve the local industrial cluster. In the hope of creating another transformative growth power, the MOEA is also combining with the Taichung Gateway planned by the Taichung City Government to cooperate across fields such as industries, academia and research institutes. The PMC, as a member of the central region traditional industry service group, will consistently pave the way to transforming precision machinery to accelerate Taiwan’s entry into the smart machinery industry.
