2012 Invest in the EU Seminar

To encourage more Taiwanese investment in Europe, the European Economic and Trade Office, the Taipei offices of EU member states, and the Economic Ministry's Department of Investment Services and Bureau of Foreign Trade are working together to organize an "Invest in the EU" seminar to be held from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Apr. 26 at the Taipei International Convention Center. The objective of the event is to promote two-way investment between Taiwan and Europe.
Twelve EU members have signed up to participate: Spain, Austria, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Luxembourg, Hungary, Slovakia, and the UK. Each will man a booth offering information on the investment environments of the respective countries.
The opening ceremony on the morning of the 26th will be hosted by Mr. Frederic LAPLANCHE, head of the European Economic and Trade Office. Mr. Chung-Ming Kuan, Minister without portfolio, will deliver an address, to be followed by five presentations: "EU as an attractive Investment Location" by Ms. Erzsebet Dobos, President, Hungarian Investment & Trade Agency; "Economic Situation and Outlook for Europe", by Ms. Alicia Garcia-Herrero, Chief Economist of BBVA; "Practical Advice on Taxation in the EU", by Mr. Yves Knel, Managing Director of the Asia Headquarters, Deloitte; "ICT R&D in the EU", by Mr. Christophe Forax, ICT Counselor for the EU office in Singapore; and "Why we invested in the EU", by Mr. Chaney Ho, President of Advantech.
The afternoon session will feature two concurrent outbreak workshops, one on information and communications technology and the other on green Industries, followed by a Q&A session for the exchange of ideals and opinions.
