This year, the opening of the 2021 Taiwan Expo in India was held on October 27. The event kicked off under the theme of Diwali, a traditional Indian festival of lights. The ceremony prayed for both Taiwan and India to usher in a prosperous future in the post-pandemic period.

According to the BOFT, India is a key country in Taiwan's New Southbound Policy. The partnership between Taiwan and India can become closer in the future through encouragement from the Indian government's policies and deeper bilateral trade and industrial cooperation.

The opening event also included online remarks from Baushuan Ger, representative at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India, and Deepak Bagla, managing director and CEO of Invest India.

Before the event started, more than 400 South Asian buyers had made appointments for the matchmaking session that covered the steel and auto parts industries, as well as the computer software and smart healthcare sectors. It was expected to facilitate around 900 business talks and more commercial opportunities. Moreover, in order to provide more exposure for Taiwan's high-quality products and facilitate interactions with buyers, Indian-style broadcast booths were set up for 17 companies at the opening venue this year.
