Shalun Green Energy Technology Demonstration Site Selected as World Gold Winner in Industrial Category at 2022 FIABCI World Prix d'Excellence Awards
The headquarters of FIABCI (the International Real Estate Federation) held the award ceremony of FIABCI World Prix d'Excellence Awards in Paris on June 9, presenting awards in a total of 16 categories. Architectural works are first screened by its 46 branches around the globe, where the most outstanding ones are then recommended to participate in the global selection. Among the recommended candidates, the Shalun Green Energy Technology Demonstration Site constructed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Tainan has been named the 2022 World Gold Winner in the Industrial Category.

Founded in 1948, FIABCI organizes the "FIABCI World Prix d'Excellence Awards," which are judged and appraised by 60 top experts from 35 countries. The awards represent outstanding achievements of architectural works. Award-winning works enjoy the precious opportunity to be displayed and introduced on international platforms of over 100 world-class professional organizations in more than 70 countries. This time, the Shalun Green Energy Technology Demonstration Site has been chosen as the World Gold Winner in the Industrial Category at the 2022 FIABCI World Prix d'Excellence Awards, which is not an easy feat for Taiwan. Moreover, this is the third time Taiwan has won an award at the FIABCI World Prix d'Excellence Awards, following its first-ever win in 2004, and second win in 2016.

According to the Bureau of Energy of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, with an area of 7.44 hectares, the large green energy demonstration site is a park that has built a complete Green Energy ecosystem using the three E's - Economy, Environment, and Education. The entire demonstration site was built using smart green building methods, integrating green energy technologies into the sustainable environment design. In 2021, it was recognized as a Double Diamond Grade Green Building and obtained a Smart Building Mark, which serves as an important indicator of Taiwans future public construction of green energy technology.

As explained by Bureau of Energy, there are five buildings in the demonstration site, and by taking sun trajectory and wind direction into consideration, the Ministry of Economic Affairs has laid out the architectural volumes appropriately to lower the burden of air conditioning. Moreover, the entire demonstration site has been supplemented and equipped with rooftop, slope, and floating solar panels providing over 1MW in power, as well as the "Solar Power Tree" symbolizing that the land is the source of energy; "Sika Deer - Messenger of the Wind," an art installation, is also featured to manifest the idea of coexisting Nature and technology. The demonstration site serves as a technological R&D base of resident companies, and cooperates with platforms for integration testing and verification of green energy and mass production lines to accelerate the final stage of the commercialization of green energy tech.

Finally, the Bureau of Energy points out that the Shalun Green Energy Technology Demonstration Site serves as a trailblazer for green energy tech innovation, hoping to connect with the nearby Biotechnology Center in Southern Taiwan, Academia Sinica, the Cybersecurity and Smart Technology R&D Building of Ministry of Science and Technology, ICC Tainan (International Convention Center), and the medical service and innovation park that is currently being planned and promoted, as well as other diverse resources and talents to promote industrial transformation in southern Taiwan. Furthermore, the demonstration site is located by the Tainan High Speed Rail Station for convenient transportation, and has bilingual schools, a large shopping mall, and the TaiSugar Circular Village within close proximity; moreover, incorporating Tainan's culture as the ancient capital, the Shalun Smart Green Energy Science City will become a livable ecological city that blends classical and modern features, and lay the foundation for its future development as Asia-Pacific's center of green energy.
