Taiwan & EU Business Networking Reception promotes bilateral business exchanges
To promote interaction and exchange between Taiwanese and European businesses, the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) commissioned the Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association (CIECA) to hold the  "Taiwan & EU Business Networking Reception" on October 25. More than 200 people attended the reception, including representatives of the EU and its member states in Taiwan, the European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan (ECCT), European businesses, Taiwanese chambers and associations, and Taiwanese businesses with market deployment in the Europe.

In opening remarks, Minister Wang Mei-Hua of the MOEA expressed her gratitude to European businesses for their investments in Taiwan's energy sector, especially in the offshore wind industry. In the past two years, Taiwanese businesses have also increased their investments in Europe. Nevertheless, Minister Wang believes there are even more opportunities for cooperation between Taiwan and the EU during the era of energy transition.

Minister Wang also pointed out that current geopolitical developments have caused uncertainty for Taiwan and the world. Therefore, like-minded countries should work together. Since Taiwan plays a critical role in global supply chains, protecting Taiwan's security is essential. If Taiwan is secure, it will be able to provide key products to the world. If not, there will be major impacts on the global economy.

On October 13, Taiwan reopened its borders and simplified entry procedures, which will facilitate interaction and exchange between Taiwan and the EU. The MOEA will continue to promote economic, trade, and industrial cooperation between Taiwan and EU member states to create more business opportunities.
