Taiwan's EV Industry Seeks Business Opportunities in Net-Zero Carbon Emissions - Highlights of the "TAIWAN EXPO USA 2022" in Washington.
The Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs  (MOEA) commissioned the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) to organize an "Electric Vehicle (EV) Business Opportunity Group" to contact American EV manufacturers face-to-face from October 2 to 9, 2022. Subsequently, Taiwan's 5G, smart city, and EV industries, as well as innovative and high-end technological products were showcased in the "Taiwan Expo USA 2022," which was held in Washington, D.C. from October 12 to 14. The Expo helped Taiwan's industry stakeholders vie for business opportunities in net-zero carbon emissions in the U.S.

The BOFT noted that the U.S. passed the "Infrastructure Act" in 2021 and is expected to invest 15 billion USD to bolster the domestic production of EVs and construction of charging stations. In addition, the "Inflation Reduction Act" was passed earlier this year, which will extend subsidies up to USD 7,500 to consumers of American-made EVs to 2032. The expansion of charging stations coupled with subsidies will benefit the development of the EV supply chain; therefore, it is worthwhile for Taiwanese businesses to explore opportunities for cooperation.
