The Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction Counseling and Guidance Group of TIP sign the MOU on Carbon Credits Trading Matchmaking.
To assist manufacturers in the parks in grasping advanced preparation for energy conservation and carbon reduction, The Export Processing Zone Administration (EPZA) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) has organized the "Technology Industrial Park Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction Expert Counseling and Guidance Group" this year. The counseling and guidance group has facilitated manufacturers in the park to reduce 564 tonnes of CO2e carbon emission, which is equivalent to 1.46 Daan Forest Parks. In order to expand the service momentum of the counseling and guidance group, the executive team, the Metal Industries Research  Development Center, serves as the integration platform, combining the momentum of the Kaohsiung Certified Public Accountant Association and Taiwan Emission Exchange Promotion Association, jointly signed the "Memorandum of Understanding on Carbon Credits Trading Matchmaking". In the future, EPZA will cooperate with industry-university-institute momentum to continue to advanced guide the industry to explore the model of carbon credits acquisition and trading.
You, Shu-Huei, the chief of EPZA's third division, indicated that the Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction Expert Counseling and Guidance Group has diagnosed the current energy use status of 14 enterprises in the park this year, which has contributed to the actual reduction of 564 tonnes of CO2e carbon emissions and provided energy-saving improvement suggestions. In the future, carbon reduction could reach 13,800 tonnes of CO2e. However, facing the trend of the international collection carbon fee system, and the enterprise partners in the parks are part of the international supply chain, it will be difficult to face the related carbon tariff regulations and borders without comprehensive carbon credits planning direction. Therefore, the Technology Industrial Park Expert Counseling and Guidance Group will keep introducing the accountant system to assist enterprises in the park to promote ESG, and combined with the momentum of domestic carbon credits trading matchmaking units to explore feasible green economy and carbon credits trading matching cases.
The EPZA further stated that the biggest problem in promoting the sustainable operation of enterprises in domestic is the lack of talents and technologies required for energy-saving, carbon reduction and low-carbon production. EPZA has successfully strived for Science and Technology RD Programs, in the future, EPZA will continue to deepen and expand the counseling and guidance to manufacturers to accelerate their response to carbon neutrality. So that industries in Taiwan and the parks can be internationally competitive in the global green economic market.
