The award ceremony for the Presidential Innovation Award, the highest honor for innovation in Taiwan, was held on April 29 in the Presidential Auditorium. In its fifth edition, this year's award saw five winners: Junyi Academy Foundation; Water Resources Agency, MOEA; Mi-Ching Tsai, Chair Professor at National Cheng Kung University's Department of Mechanical Engineering; Miin Wu, Chairman of Macronix International Co., Ltd.; and Ming-Che Sung, firefighter at Fire Bureau of Changhua County. President Tsai Ing-wen personally presented the trophies and NT$2 million award to each award recipient.

[Individual Category] The winner Chair Professor Mi-Ching Tsai, nicknamed "Motor Tsai" in the industry, has engaged in the research and development of motor technology and its talent cultivation for more than 30 years. Winning accolades at home and abroad, his has helped universities in Taiwan create millions of dollars in technology transfer revenues, setting an unprecedented record.

Professor Tsai founded the Electric Motor Technology Research Center, which acts as a key driver of technological innovation in the motor industry by linking up over 100 domestic and foreign manufacturers from upstream, midstream to downstream. Pioneering the "spin-in" industry-academia collaboration model to attract enterprises to send employees to be in residence in universities and set up dedicated laboratories, his contribution has promoted the collaborative ecosystem between industry and academia to facilitate the seamless integration of academic talents to industrial applications, laying the foundation for Taiwan's motor technology talents in the next two decades.
