The award ceremony for the Presidential Innovation Award, the highest honor for innovation in Taiwan, was held on April 29 in the Presidential Auditorium. In its fifth edition, this year's award saw five winners: Junyi Academy Foundation; Water Resources Agency, MOEA; Mi-Ching Tsai, Chair Professor at National Cheng Kung University's Department of Mechanical Engineering; Miin Wu, Chairman of Macronix International Co., Ltd.; and Ming-Che Sung, firefighter at Fire Bureau of Changhua County. President Tsai Ing-wen personally presented the trophies and NT$2 million award to each award recipient.

[Individual Category] The winner chairman Miin Wu founded Macronix in 1989 upon returning to Taiwan. He was the first to combine his statistics and semiconductor know-hows to build the world's first fully computerized fab and led Macronix to become one of the first semiconductor companies to measure defective products using the ppb (parts per billion) indicator. Macronix is now the second largest chip supplier in the global automotive market. Macronix has attracted outstanding overseas talents back to Taiwan with its innovative designs and trained a large pool of local R&D talent. It safeguards Taiwan's inventions with patents in Japan, the United States, and other markets.

Chairman Wu has nurtured nearly 40,000 technology talents and established the Miin Wu School of Computing with a donation of NT$1 billion (US$ 34 million) over 10 years. It spearheads innovative AI applications and cross-disciplinary talent grooming in Taiwan, making a significant contribution to the development of Taiwan's technology industry.
