Easy-dismantled PV Module by ITRI & URE Certified by TUV Rheinland

Hits: 36
The Easy-dismantled Solar Panel Module has met IEC standards (IEC61215 & IEC61730) and been certified by TUV Rheinland in October 2022.
Aiming to recycle and reuse photovoltaic modules upon decommissioning, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) has promoted the development of easy-to-disassemble solar modules by ITRI, United Renewable Energy (URE), and San Fang Chemical Industry Co, Ltd.  This technology has been awarded the first IEC international certification for photovoltaic easy-to-dismantle modules by Germany's TUV Rheinland, which highlights the high degree of safety and reliability of this innovative technology. This will also hasten the move to promote the product in international markets. The development of the easy-dismantled PV module offers the complete recycling and reuse of materials such as silicon and glass, resolving a bottleneck facing current PV modules after decommissioning. The R&D team estimates the recycle value of a PV module after recommissioning will be significantly increased to NT$2.4 billion from NT$600 million per 1 GW, thus creating a new circular economy model for the solar industry.

ITRI is activity formulating its 2030 Technology Strategy & Roadmap, and the development of green energy technology is an integral part of the Sustainable Environment applications portion of the initiative. Easy-dismantled solar modules have passed IEC61215 and IEC61730 by in October of this year. The technology is expected to obtain Taiwan's Voluntary Product Certification (VPC) in the first quarter of 2023, providing a net-zero carbon emission solution for global enterprises.
