To meet the investment needs of Taiwanese firms and balance regional development, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) held the "Pingtung Technology Industrial Park Phase II Groundbreaking Ceremony" on March 27, 2023. The ceremony was hosted by Executive Yuan Premier Chen Chien-Jen. And about 150 distinguished guests, associations and important enterprises representatives, including MOEA Vice Minister Lin Chuan-Neng, Pingtung County Mayor Chou Chun-mi, legislator Chung Chia-Pin, and Chuang Ruei-Hsiung, were actively attended to congratulate, The local area shows the high expectations for the development of the park. The Pingtung Technology Industrial Park Phase II covers an area of 26.86 hectares. It is expected to promote investment of NT$5 billion, increase output value by NT$10 billion, and create 790 job vacancies, which will contribute to Pingtung's economic development and employment prosperity.
In the speech, Executive Yuan Premier Chen Chien-Jen, said that in order to balance regional development, the Executive Yuan had approved the plans for the Pingtung Technology Industrial Park Phase II, Science Park, Leisure Sports Park, Experimental High School, and High-Speed Railway Station successively during 2021 to 2022, hoping to accelerate the introduction of science and technology industry and transform Pingtung from a large agricultural county to an industrial town. Premier Chen said that the Pingtung Technology Industrial Park Phase II is the first piece of the development program of Pingtung High-Speed Railway Specific Area, he look forward to the development of the park investment smoothly, and it will attract more industries and talents to Pingtung in the future, so as to accelerate the prosperity and development of Pingtung.
MOEA Vice Minister Lin Chuan-Neng said that Pingtung Technology Industrial Park has still turned in double digit operating growth performance every year during the epidemic, and the current land rental of the park has exceeded 97%. In order to continuously improve the momentum of development, the MOEA has specially promoted the expansion program of the Pingtung Technology Industrial Park. Vice-Minister Lin promised the Pingtung residents that the base would play the role of "domestic" in regional development in the future, and would strive to achieve completion of projects on time and as quality, attentively promote investment, considerate service and environmental optimization, and connect with Pingtung Science Park to form a new settlement in the local science and technology industry.
In the speech, Pingtung County Mayor Chou Chun-mi, appreciated the central government for its support for the construction of Pingtung and illustrated the progress of various development projects in Pingtung High-Speed Railway Specific Areas. She emphasized that Pingtung has unlimited development potential in the future. At the same time, she also said that Pingtung County has plentiful water resources and the best investment environment, it is 'the right time' to invest in Pingtung County now. All manufacturers are welcome to invest in Pingtung County to make it a competitive city of hope.
In the interview, the EPZA Director-General Yang, Po-Keng, said that the geopolitical impact will accelerate the driving trend of Taiwan companies return. In order to prepare industrial land in advance, the Export Processing Zone Administration (MOEA) specially strive for the Forward-looking Program funds to finance the Pingtung Technology Industrial Park Phase II Program. The Phase II base is not only equipped with perfect public facilities, low rent, stable water and electricity supply, but also adjacent to No. 1 Provincial Road, the transportation is very convenient. In the future, High-Speed Railway Station, Experimental High School, and Science Park will be developed around the base, with infinite potential for future development. Director-General Yang welcomes all enterprises to seize the opportunity to station in and seize the profitable business opportunities.
