According to the statistics, 1,122 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$6,415,488,000 were approved from January to June 2023. This indicates an increase of 0.54% in the number of cases, and a decrease of 26.97% in FDI amount compared to the same period of 2022.

With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 14 cases were approved with an amount of US$16,655,000 from January to June 2023. This indicates a decrease of 51.72% in the number of cases, and a decrease of 2.23% in the FDI amount compared to the same period of 2022. From July 2009 to June 2023, 1,570 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$2,582,910,000.

In terms of Taiwan's outbound investment (excluding Mainland China), 249 projects were registered from January to June 2023 with a total amount of US$8,969,681,000, indicating a decrease of 2.73% in the number of cases, but an increase of 112.78% in the amount, as compared to the same period of 2022.

As for Taiwan's outward investment to Mainland China, 178 applications have been approved from January to June 2023, indicating a decrease of 6.81% compared to the same period of 2022. The approved investment amount is US$1,910,219,000, 6.38% more than the same period in 2022.
