According to the statistics, 1,534 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$7,520,617,000 were approved from January to August 2023. This indicates a decrease of 7.92% in the number of cases, and a decrease of 27.58% in FDI amount compared to the same period of 2022.
With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 16 cases were approved with an amount of US$23,936,000 from January to August 2023. This indicates a decrease of 54.29% in the number of cases, but an increase of 26.95% in the FDI amount compared to the same period of 2022. From July 2009 to August 2023, 1,572 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$2,590,190,000.
In terms of Taiwan's outbound investment (excluding Mainland China), 369 projects were registered from January to August 2023 with a total amount of US$11,165,079,000, indicating an increase of 1.10% in the number of cases, and an increase of 105.60% in the amount, as compared to the same period of 2022.
As for Taiwan's outward investment to Mainland China, 229 applications have been approved from January to August 2023, indicating a decrease of 3.78% compared to the same period of 2022. The approved investment amount is US$2,385,491,000, 8.19% less than the same period in 2022.
