The Industrial Development Administration (IDA),Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) has been promoting cross-sector collaborations in 5G, AI, and IoT since 2021, these efforts have transformed Kaohsiung's Asia New Bay Area into Taiwan's premier 5G AIoT demonstration hub, showcasing various innovative applications.
One notable achievement is the creation of the world's first 5G smart-operating terminal in Kaohsiung's Asia New Bay Area and making ARGO Yacht Club becomes one of the candidates for the prestigious "5 Gold Anchors Award", a top marina accreditation in the world. In entertainment sector, immersive remote performances have been achieved at events like the International Fastener Exhibition using 5G private networks and XR integration tech. Furthermore, industrial giants like CPC, FPC, and CSC have adopted AI-driven monitoring via 5G, enhancing both safety and efficiency.
In 2023, IDA continually launches the 2023 R&D facilitation programs subjecting for "large scale deployment performance", in order to seize more international business cooperation and opportunities.
In 2022, IDA catalyzed the communications sector's prowess in 5G open network technology. With IDA's support, ten 5G open network system vendors, (including Saviah Technology, Ataya, HTC, FHNET, ALPHA Network, TransNet, Askey, QCT, HwacomSystem, and Taiwan Panasonic), have showcased their innovations in Kaohsiung's Asia New Bay Area, focusing on tech solutions in areas like "Ocean and marine technology", "Somatosensory Technology", and "smart manufacturing". 13 successful pilot trial cases have been developed, showcasing the synergy of AI, IoT, and efficient vertical integration.
ARGO Yacht Club, a leading marine recreation provider, has capitalized on a 5G system developed by ALPHA Network and TransNet, ARGO has enhanced their yacht rental operations. ARGO 5G smart-yacht terminal at Glory Pier offers real-time yacht tracking, berth vacancy updates, and automated charging as well as strengthening security features, such as intrusion detection and drone patrols for personal safety and facilities security. This terminal stands for a testament to the potential of 5G ORAN systems, especially in the critical settings and environment.
Looking ahead, IDA will emphasize on "large-scale deployment performance" in their 2023 R&D facilitation programs, aiming to align with international telecommunications trends. In this regards, the relevant industries will focus on large-scale 5G open network R&D and deployment, targeting key sites with consistent business flow. Taiwan will become the most comprehensive 5G ORAN verification platform and subsequently presents herself to global business partners and amplifies Taiwan's reputation as a 5G open network solutions provider on the world stage.
