Indonesian Week 2018 held in Taiwan

Indonesia Ministry of Trade and the Indonesian Economic and Trade Office to Taipei jointly held an Indonesian Week 2018 at the Taipei World Trade Center from March 22-25. The expo showcased Indonesian goods and services in a wide range of sectors, such as food products, beverages, ceramics, telecommunications, tourism, and so on. A series of lectures, trade forums, workshops, cultural and fashion shows, and other activities were also held during the event, which was aimed at expanding trade, cultural and other exchanges and interactions between Taiwan and Indonesia at all levels of society.

Under Taiwan New Southbound Policy, various government agencies and private organizations worked together to hold Taiwan Expos in Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines and Malaysia last year to showcase Taiwan products and services. Taiwan Expos will also be held this year in Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and India. The holding of Indonesian Week illustrated the importance that Indonesia attaches to Taiwan economic strength and market potential.

Indonesia population totals more than 260 million, of which roughly 85% are Muslims. Therefore, the Indonesia market presents huge potential opportunities for halal businesses in Taiwan. The Indonesian Week 2018 presented an opportunity for these businesses to explore tapping this vast market and others in ASEAN. The government of Taiwan warmly welcomes other New Southbound countries in Southeast Asia and South Asia to hold similar events in Taiwan to increase the visibility of their products and services in Taiwan market as well as boost exchanges and interactions with Taiwan at all levels of society.
