For resolving the shortage of construction space in Nanzih Export Processing Zone (NEPZ), the Export Processing Zone Administration (EPZA) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) speeds up the promotion of sparkling spaces redevelopment project. The EPZA Director General Dr. Huang Wen Gu indicated that this project inherits successful experience of land turnover, and has more substantial breakthrough in four aspects, including the area for redevelopment, securing the interest of investors, turnover efficiency of land, and enhancement of business environment. The estimated added investment figures amounted over NT$30 billion, which is expected to increase 2610 job vacancies.
According to the EPZA, the designated sparkling spaces for redevelopment in NEPZ are about 55 hectares in total, and this project has more substantial breakthrough in the following four practices. To begin with expanding the range of redevelopment, the EPZA makes the first announcement for redevelopment of three lands including NEPZ’s Employee Service Center, tennis court and women’s dormitory, totaling 3.47 hectares, which can substantially increase more room for industry development in zones. Then to increase investors, the project will promote the participation of more than two companies in NEPZ and help expand investment efficiency. Furthermore, to improve turnover efficiency of land, the EPZA expects to build three new plants, increase floor area of about 120,000 square meters, release lands of 15,000 square meters and turnover lands of 0.7 hectares, continuing to promote turnover of land area in NEPZ. Finally, to optimize business environment, investors will build open spaces such as Ecological Parks, wooden paths, and shelters in the redevelopmental planning. For developing better business environment, existing arbor trees in the NEPZ for more than 40 years will be fully retained; old cement boundary wall will be removed and green fences will be constructed.
According to Dr. Huang Wen Gu, the EPZA Director General, EPZA create the first policy of turnover of land by constructing other place in advance, relocating, demolishing old buildings, and taking progressive steps to renew old plants in zones. In addition, the EPZA successfully introduced LITE-ON Technology Corporation to acquire the first turnover of land of 2.62 hectares for expansion, and the first phase building will be completed by the end of this year. Currently, the EPZA continuing to work hard and make efforts to promote sparkling spaces redevelopment project, expand the range of redevelopment, assist companies in zones to resolve the problem of insufficient land for expansion, and attract investments for expansion. In the spirits of “renovating old factories and building to be long-lasting,” the EPZA will have visions to the changes in industries, continue to deepen redevelopment of the zones, introduce high-quality and high-value-added industries, and drive overall growth momentum of the zones supervised by the EPZA.
