MOEA Convened Meeting for the Review of Electricity Transmission and Distribution Tariff for the Year 2019 and the Connection Charges for the Year 2019 to 2021

Hits: 336
The Meeting of Electricity Tariff Examination Council was convened on December 4th, 2018 and was held to confirm the electricity transmission and distribution tariff for the year 2019 and the connection charges for the year 2019 to 2021. After discussion and confirmation of various calculation factors, the average rate of ancillary service, electric power dispatching, wheeling (transmission) and wheeling (distribution) will be adjusted slightly, and the rates of connection charges for consumers from different contract will be officially implemented on January 1st, 2019.

The various plans of the electricity transmission and distribution tariff reported by Taiwan Power Company (Taipower) are calculated according to "The Calculation Formula for Electricity Transmission and Distribution Tariff", and all rates for electricity transmission and distribution tariffs will be reviewed and adjusted annually. After the member of the Examination Council fully discussed the reported materials, due to some of the slight variation in the costs , they determine the average rates of ancillary service and electric power dispatching are set for a slight increase of 0.0013 NTD/kWh and 0.0014 NTD/kWh respectively; the average rates of wheeling (transmission) and wheeling (distribution) are set for a slight decrease of 0.0084 NTD/kWh and 0.0132 NTD/kWh respectively. The electricity transmission and distribution tariffs under review are valid from January 2019 to the end of 2019.

Another rate under review is the connection charges. The current connection subsidy for Taiwan Power Company is in accordance with its "Operation Regulation" as well as in coordination with the amendment of the Electricity Act, and the name of"Connection Subsidy "has been changed to "Connection Charges". The MOEA has thereby stipulated the "Calculation Formula for Electricity Transmission and Distribution Tariff- Connection Charges", at the same time, the connection charges are been reviewed by the Examination Council in this meeting. In avoidance of user confusion due to above-mentioned new changes in the name and calculation formula, the applicable tariffs remain the same. In addition, the Electricity Act has waived the connection fee for the households in remote areas to reduce their burdens. The underlying calculation formula also indicates that the remote areas refer to the Aboriginal areas and the Aboriginal Communities in the Regional Municipality.

The MOEA added that all of the information discussed during the meeting will be posted on the website within 10 days for full disclosure. From December 14th, 2018, more information can be found at https://www3.moeaboe.gov.tw/ele102/. The public may also refer to the website of BOE for various charges and Connection Charges by Electricity Transmission and Distribution Enterprise and Taipower's costs examined in the Council meeting.
