Online Taiwan Expo Vietnam launches new digital marketing platform
The first online Taiwan Expo Vietnam will commence today and continue for 3 days. The exhibition this year will feature Smart Technology, Smart City, Healthcare, Startups and E-commerce, Lifestyle and Fashion, and Tourism and Culture, with products from 135 manufacturers on 360 degree virtual displays and online procurement sessions expected to be held between 135 Taiwanese exhibitors and 225 Vietnamese buyers.

This is the third year of the Taiwan Expo Vietnam, with the exhibition having showcased a total of 510 Taiwanese traders and attracted over 68,000 Vietnamese visitors. Positive outcomes from interactions at previous expos include cooperation in e-commerce platforms, green technology, smart cities, and healthcare.

An example of such is the MOU between the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and Vietnam's largest B2C e-commerce platform, Tiki. Other cases include application of Taiwan's cold chain logistic solutions to local vaccine delivery, introduction of aquaponics technology and light-responsive illumication systems to Vietnam, as well as medical cooperation in devices, organ transplant technology and personnel training.

The expo this year features seven image pavilions and five industry sections. New to this year will be the potential application of Taiwan's latest solutions such as 5G, AI, Cloud, anti-pandemic efforts, healthcare and e-commerce in the post-pandemic era.

Director General of the BOFT, Cynthia KIANG said in her opening remarks that the global supply chain restructuring and the new Taiwan-Vietnam Bilateral Investment Agreement coming into force have increased Taiwanese investments in Vietnam and Vietnamese imports into Taiwan. From January to August this year, bilateral trade reached US$13.43 billion, which was already at the 80% mark of the entire year last year. She looked forward to more cooperation and interactions through the Taiwan Expo.

The Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs is holding the Taiwan Expos across Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and India virtually for the first time this year from 6 October until the end of the year. It has not been easy for Taiwan to maintain export growth despite the global slowdown. The BOFT will continue to advance and innovate so that technology like this year's debut of virtual displays and online procurement sessions will further diversify our promotional work to continue creating eye-catching results.
