Building Core Industrial Talent in Taiwan by Offering All-English Language Courses for Industries
In compliance with the "2030 Bilingual National Policy", the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), has commissioned the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) to offer special courses to cultivate domestic English-speaking industrial talent. Starting in 2021, the classes will be conducted entirely in English and primarily target middle- and senior-level industry executives, sales managers, and project managers in order to further develop and enhance the international competitiveness of Taiwan's industrial professionals.

Four industry-themed courses are planned for this year, including Biotech and Medical Materials, Smart Machinery, Green Energy, and Artificial Intelligence. These courses are aimed at establishing Taiwan as an international center of talent and a key player in global supply chains. The Biotech and Medical Materials Industry Talent Training Course started on January 22 in Taipei City. The course analyzes the characteristics of the biotechnology and medical materials industries and trends in global competition. It uses the U.S. market as an example to explain which business models to adopt when entering international markets. The business English part of the course also includes an informative online meeting with a Swiss medical device manufacturer.

In the Smart Machinery Industry Course, starting on April 28, the Green Energy Industry Course in Kaohsiung is scheduled to open on April 28 and the AI Industry Course will be held in Hsinchu starting on May 7.
