The Chinese National Federation of Industries and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry jointly held the 2018 Taiwan-Vietnam Industrial Collaboration Forum in Taipei City on Oct. 15, 2018.
More than 500 representatives of business, government and academia from the two sides took part in the gathering.
In his opening speech, CNFI Chairman Wang Wen-yuan expressed the hope that the forum would boost talent exchanges between Taiwan and Vietnam and help bring about further integration of their economies to generate mutual benefits.
Taiwan's accumulated investment in Vietnam had reached US$30.9 billion as of the end of June this year, ranking Taiwan as Vietnam's fourth largest source of foreign investment. The figure rises to US$50 billion if investment by Taiwanese companies via third parties is included. Taiwan investment in Vietnam has created more than 1.4 million jobs in the country.
During the forum, four letters of intent were signed between businesses, industry associations and research institutes of the two sides, including an LOI on textile sector technology cooperation and two on digital learning collaboration.
