The third Taiwan-Japan Maritime Affairs Cooperation Dialogue is slated to be held on Dec. 27, 2018, in Tokyo, with discussions to focus on emergency rescue collaboration, marine scientific research, and fishing.

Taiwan's delegation is being led by Taiwan-Japan Relations Association Secretary-General Chang Shu-ling, while the association's president will serve as a consultant, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The government of Taiwan hopes to develop mutually beneficial cooperation and strengthen communications and negotiations with Japan on a range of maritime-related issues so as to maintain order at sea, the Ministry said in a statement.

The dialogue is held annually, with the two sides taking turns hosting the event. The first meeting was held in October 2016 in Tokyo.
