With Apple Inc.'s latest smartphone, the iPhone X, including Face ID, facial recognition has become a hot topic. According to CB Insights' AI Trend Report, facial recognition has become the largest and most widespread technology in artificial intelligence (AI) development in 2019.

How has facial recognition technology become more and more powerful? This is due to images of our faces and photographs on social network sites, photo sites and dating sites circulating and being shared around the world, forming a huge ecosystem that has fostered the extensive spread of facial recognition.

CB Insights looked at the application of facial recognition in different industries in the United States and made the following observations: 1. Financial industry: few sectors can be like the financial industry, using facial recognition for user identity verification and gaining a high premium in security and fraud prevention. 2. Insurance industry: in the future, the use of facial recognition to provide a quotation for an insurance policy could become common practice. 3. Catering industry: through the use of facial recognition technology, food, beverage and catering brands have the opportunity to provide a customized experience, or improve service quality.

The smart retail system will change the advertising marketing model. With the introduction of facial recognition technology, marketing will become more precise and personal. With the dawn of the AI era, facial recognition technology will become more extensive and pervasive.
