The first phase of construction of the new Nordic Harvest 14-storey, 7,000-square meter vertical farm built in partnership with Taiwan’s YesHealth Group on the outskirts of the Danish capital Copenhagen has recently been completed, with production set to begin in the first quarter of next year.

It will be Europe’s largest and most efficient indoor vertical farm, featuring YesHealth Group’s proprietary technologies, robotics, hydroponics, more than 20,000 LED lights, and smart software for processing over 5,000 individual data points, all integrated with Nordic Harvest’s design of process flow and packaging.

Working in partnership, YesHealth Group and Danish firm Nordic Harvest began constructing the vertical farm in April this year, and the first stage of construction was completed in just six months. In the second phase of construction, the vertical farm will scale-up, and production will expand from an initial 200-ton annual capacity to 1,000-ton annual capacity during the fourth quarter of 2021.

“Our team has worked tirelessly over the past eight months to bring this Copenhagen vertical farm into reality,” YesHealth Group project manager Stella Tsai said, adding that, “it’s a valuable experience that we’ll take forward into future projects.”

Wiston Tsai, chairman of YesHealth Group, said that with the launch of the vertical farm, Danish consumers will be able to purchase healthy, safety and delicious vegetables grown using advanced Taiwan-developed technology.
