Taiwan, in collaboration with the Asia LEDS (Low Emission Development Strategies) Partnership (ALP), co-held Community of Practice (CoP) online seminars on "Smart Grid Applications" and "Application Services for Meteorological Information in Green Energy Operations" on July 12 and 14, respectively. The seminars attracted the participation of government officials, representatives of related enterprises as well as scholars from a dozen countries to learn more about Taiwan's current de-carbonization efforts.

At the "Smart Grid Applications" seminar, the Bureau of Energy and Taiwan Power Co. showcased Taiwan's experience in smart meter deployment, AMI system infrastructure, data applications, as well as demand-side management to the participating ALP members. In addition, at the "Application Services for Meteorological Information in Green Energy Operations" seminar, the keynote speaker from the Central Weather Bureau gave a presentation on the climate service needs and priorities for the energy sector under the framework of the Global Framework for Climate Services and introduced the system of the Meteorological-Information Based Green Energy Operations Center.

In addition to participants from Taiwan industry, government, and academia, the seminars also attracted more than 50 participants from countries around the globe, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Malaysia, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the U.S., and Vietnam to gain a better understanding of Taiwan's relevant experience in promoting smart meters and meteorological information in green energy applications.

The seminars are the first to be held in collaboration with ALP on the theme of Taiwan's experience since Taiwan, represented by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, joined the partnership. The seminars will not only enhance Taiwan's visibility in the international community but also help generate more green energy business opportunities for Taiwanese enterprises in this important emerging sector.
