75th Plenary Meeting

The 75th Plenary Meeting was held in Islamabad, Pakistan from Oct. 30th to Nov. 4th, 2016. The theme was “Emerging Dynamics in Cotton: Enhancing Sustainability in Cotton Value Chain.” Member and non-member government representatives, international organizations, NGOs, academics and industry representatives were invited to attend. More than 10 seminars were held on various topics, including cotton industry production, inventory and consumption information; challenges in cotton production, such as appropriate use of water resources, pest control, etc.; competition in the consumer market, such as from highly-subsidized and low-cost polyester fiber; the role of government in the development of the cotton industry, and so on.
