U.S.-Taiwan Cooperation on Global Semiconductor Supply Chain Resilience Industry Forum
On April 29, the MOEA and the AIT co-organized an industrial forum on U.S.-Taiwan Cooperation on Global Semiconductor Supply Chain Resilience.

Participants in the forum exchanged their views on how the complementary strengths of Taiwan and the U.S. could be harnessed in fortifying the resilience of the global semiconductor supply chain. This forum was the first activity organized for semiconductors after Taiwan and the U.S. established the Technology Trade and Investment Cooperation (TTIC) Framework at the end of last year.

Minister Wang said in her opening remarks that Taiwan has high-caliber talent, premium technology, and favourable regulatory environment in semiconductors, as well as sound protection for intellectual property. The complete industrial supply chain also attracts U.S. semiconductor companies such as Micron and Applied Materials to invest in Taiwan. Microsoft and Intel also plan to set up R&D centers in Taiwan.

Taiwan hopes to become the advanced semiconductor manufacturing center in the world and make the semiconductor ecosystem more complete. To that end, it relies on the expansion of cooperation between Taiwan and global partners. The strengthening of such an ecosystem can also fully support the needs of semiconductors in various countries around the world and form closer global cooperation.

AIT Director Sandra Oudkirk said in her opening remarks that the design, fabrication, and packaging of semiconductors that takes place in Taiwan have increased in importance. She also indicated that only by building resilient supply chains will be able to foster broad-based growth.
