MTIC is awarded "Highly Commented - Safety & Fidelity" by GWO Safety & Training Awards 2022
Maritime Technology Innovation Center (MTIC), founded by Bureau of Energy (BOE), Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) and operated by Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC), has been awarded "Highly Commented for Safety & Fidelity" among over 500 training service providers worldwide by the Global Wind Organization (GWO) on October 4th in the "2022 Global Safety & Training Award" in Copenhagen, Denmark.

To ensure safety of all offshore wind workers, GWO published the Basic Safety Training Standard (BST) in 2012, which has since been recognized by renowned offshore wind developers, turbine manufacturers, and suppliers in the world, requiring their employees to first pass GWO certification training before carrying out related tasks. Since 2021, GWO has held the annual Safety and Training Forum and Awards to recognize regional training providers for their outstanding performances on Quality of Training, Safety & Fidelity, Community & Engagement, as well as Diversity & Inclusion.

MTIC has been a finalist of the Best Training Team in Asia Pacific Region two years in row since its inauguration in 2021. This year, MTIC, along with the RWE Safety Training Team in USA, were selected among over 500 training service providers worldwide by the Award Committee to receive the "Highly Commented - Safety & Fidelity" Award, proving that MTIC's training service is on par with international standards of training quality and safety.

MOEABOE strives for the promotion of offshore wind and is projected to reach 5.6GW offshore wind capacity by 2025. To achieve this target, international and domestic talent training and development play a crucial role. MTIC has 14 certified instructors and offers 22 training modules that cover GWO's basic and advanced training programs. MTIC, as of today, has trained over one thousand talents, and will further develop international training and certification programs for offshore wind power and marine engineering, to facilitate sustainable development of offshore wind power in Taiwan.

For MOEABOE, this award is just the beginning. Taiwan's offshore wind industry has laid a solid foundation and set clear directions guided by the energy transition policy. In the future, through gradual building of domestic manufacturing and O/M capabilities, Taiwan will be able to accelerate R&D of marine technology, comprehensively develop domestic underwater foundation building capability, marine engineering technology, as well as talent and industry development. These will realize Taiwan's vision of enhancing energy security and facilitating environmental sustainability.
