To fulfill the land needs for the expansion of high-technology industries, the Export Processing Zone Administration (EPZA) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) had specially striven for the Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Program and pumped NTD580 million in building the "Innovative Industrial Building"
in the Nanzih Technology Industrial Park. The ground-breaking ceremony was be held on February 22, 2023. The ceremony was presided over by the Minister of MOEA, Wang, Mei-Hua, and distinguish guests such as Kaohsiung City Mayor Chen Chi-Mai, and Legislators Lin Dai-hua, Chiu Yi-Ying, Chiu Chih-Wei, Hsu Chih-chieh, as well as representatives of associations and important manufacturers in the parks attended the ceremony to celebrate, giving positive recognition to the space reconstruction and industrial upgrading of the Technology Industrial Parks with concrete actions.
The Minister of MOEA, Wang, Mei-Hua, said that the Nanzih Technology Industrial Park is an important stronghold of the global semiconductor packaging and testing industry. The location is very advantageous. However, due to the land use in the park has been saturation, to meet the eager demand of manufacturer for land use, the EPZA is actively promoting the park renewal program, and has received very good results. Minister Wang encouraged EPZA to continue to promote the renewal program, MOEA will continue to provide support in terms of funding and guidance, hoping to make the development of the Technology Industrial Park more robust, the industry upgraded more, and let the world see Taiwan.
In the speech, the Kaohsiung City Mayor Chen Chi-Mai, emphasized that "Asian New Bay Area" and "Semiconductors Corridor" are the key points of Kaohisung City government's industrial development. Thanks to the EPZA for actively participating in these two major programs, including the promotion of the Kaohsiung Software Park Phrase II, Nanzih Innovative Industrial Building, and the Third Nanzih Park to create more space for industrial development. Mayor Chen also appealed again to the industry and welcomed everyone to actively station into these newly developed spaces and increase investment in Kaohsiung.
The EPZA Director-General, Yang, Po-Keng, said to meet the land needs of the semiconductor manufacturers and investment spaces needs by the return of Taiwanese businesses, Nanzih Technology Industrial Park has been launched the renewal program for administrative offices field since 2020. The Winway Technology has taken the lead in the first phase of renewal base, and now EPZA is making persistent efforts in the second phase of the program - the construction of the "Innovative Industrial Building". The Building will increase 10, 000 square meters of industrial space (10 floors above ground, 2 floors underground, with the floor area ratio of about 425 percentage), and has obtained green building and intelligent building labels. The facade of the building incorporates with the image of the Banping Mountain, which will become the main facade of the park, and the building will use green balconies, it will become the highlight of the factory buildings. The first floor (approximately 892.6 square meters) will introduce life services functional industry (such as restaurants, coffee shops, or convenience stroes, etc.), and the second floor and above are planned to provide commercial offices space for enterprises in the parks. At the same time, the Director-General Yang appealed to enterprises which are engaged in scientific and technological research and development and smart applications to actively station in, so as to seize profitable business opportunities and empowers new development momentum for the industrial upgrading of the park.
The EPZA further stated that the Technology Industrial Park has been established for more than 56 years. It has led and witnessed the development and transformation of domestic industries. In the future, in addition to continuously improving the land efficiency of the park by innovation methods on the existing basis, the EPZA now is actively developing three new areas (Kaohsiung Software Park Phrase II, Pingtung Technology Industrial Park's Expansion, and Nanzih Third Park). The services system of the park will also advance with times according to the needs of manufacturers, constantly seek innovation, and make all-out efforts to build the park into a vital, happy, and sustainable high-quality investment environment.
