The 18th Session of the Taiwan-Czech Joint Business Council Meeting Deepens Bilateral Industrial Cooperation
The 18th Session of the Taiwan-Czech Joint Business Council Meeting was held on March 27 2023 in Taipei. Marketa Pekarova Adamova, the Speaker of the Chamber of the Deputies of the Czech Republic, led the largest business delegation in the history of bilateral relations between Taiwan and the Czech Republic to the Council Meeting.

The conference was co-hosted by Mr. Henry C.S. Kao, Chairman of the Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association (CIECA), and Mr. Jaroslav Hanak, President of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic. Ms. Mei-Hua Wang, Minister of Economic Affairs, and Ms. Adamova, Speaker of the Czech Republic's Chamber of Deputies, gave opening remarks.

More than 250 representatives of the private sector from both sides attended the event. They exchanged views on expanding cooperation opportunities in the fields of electric vehicles, start-ups, energy, and aerospace industries.

Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs Chern-Chyi "C.C." Chen and Director General of Ministry of Industry and Trade Petr Ocko delivered speeches during the networking reception and witnessed the signing of five Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) between Taiwanese and Czech companies in the fields of lithium battery recycling, medical equipment, and precision machinery.

The Czech Republic is Taiwan's third largest trading partner in Central and Eastern Europe. Bilateral trade in 2022 totaled US$1.15 continue to strengthen bilateral economic and trade relations and foster more substantive cooperation with the Czech Republic.
