Four officials from the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection, and the Department of Commerce under the Ministry of Economic Affairs participated in a study project on the topic of "market surveillance and regulatory issues on labeling of Japanese consumer commodities" from July 8 to 14, 2018.
While in Japan for the project under the Taiwan-Japan Technical Cooperation Program (TCP), the participants made visits to Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Consumer Affairs Agency, National Institute of Technology and Evaluation, and other related organizations and facilities.
Through these visits and exchanges with relevant officials, the participants gained a more in-depth understanding of Japan's incident data collection, hazard analysis, corrective actions for consumer products, as well as labeling requirements.
