Asia-Pacific Low Emission City Forum

In Taiwan, we are tackling the major challenges of transition from high-carbon energy to low-carbon energy and from high-carbon to low-carbon economic development. The Asia LEDS Partnership is also actively paving new paths to low-emission development in the region through multi-level stakeholder engagement.

To push forward the LEDs initiatives, the MOEA and ICLEI KCC jointly organized the “Asia-Pacific Low Emission City Forum: From Energy Transition to Sustainable Development” in November 2019 to explore alternatives in accelerating low-emission and sustainable actions via smart energy transition, with a focus on “Opportunities and Challenges of Innovative Green Energy Development.”

Jamba Lkhagva, director of the Energy Market Research and Cooperation Division, Energy Regulatory Commission of Mongolia, and Pedro H. Maniego Jr., senior advisor, Climate Change Committee of the Philippines, were invited to deliver presentations at the forum. Tsedenjav Zandanbazar, director of the Licensing and Monitoring Department, Energy Regulatory Commission of Mongolia, was also invited to attend to serve as a panelist and share his insights on how to combine low-carbon and sustainable development.

Green energy and low-carbon development are major goals of the MOEA in its task of fostering economic development. Therefore, the MOEA will continue to combine the resources of various ministries, jointly promote exchanges and cooperation with ALP members, and contribute to the promotion of low-emission development in the Asia-Pacific region.
