In order to establish close partnership relations with the Asia Low Emission Development Strategies Partnership (ALP) and gain a deeper understanding of its operating methods and related activities planned for the future, ALP Secretary-General Emani Kumar visited Taiwan at the invitation of the Ministry of Economic Affairs in December 2018. During his meeting with Minister Jong-Chin Shen, they discussed a range of topics such as bilateral Taiwan-India electric vehicle industry cooperation, promotion of experience-sharing between Taiwan and ALP members on green energy issues, and so on.
In addition, while in Taiwan, Secretary-General Kumar visited the Executive Yuan’s Energy and Carbon Reduction Office and the municipal governments of New Taipei City and Kaohsiung City Government, as well as held a forum with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and members of the promotion task force, including committees of 10 government agencies, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Environmental Protection Administration, and so on, to discuss Taiwan’s role in ALP and directions of cooperation, as well as ALP’s sharing of experience on promoting low-carbon development.
