Launches AI Innovation Pavilion at InnoVEX TREE Program Startups Surpass NT$9.35 Billion in Total Fundraising, Showcasing Taiwan's Cross-Sector AI Readiness

The AI X Innovation Pavilion, presented by the Department of Industrial Technology (DoIT) under Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), opened on June 2 at InnoVEX. Centered on the theme of "AI innovation" this year's pavilion brings together achievements from the Taiwan Research Institute Advanced Technology Entrepreneur Ecosystem (TREE) Program and gold and silver winners of the 2026 Best AI Awards. A total of 31 innovations are on display, spanning intelligent machinery, communications, green energy, semiconductor applications, biotech and medical devices demonstrating Taiwan's comprehensive capabilities in cross-sector AI application. Since the launch of the TREE Program in 2021, DoIT has supported over 60 startups, with cumulative fundraising reaching NT$9.35 billion. TREE-supported teams also secured 25% of the spots in the Top 30 of the Startup Bloom Program entrepreneurship competition, underscoring the growing strength of Taiwan's research-driven startup ecosystem.

MOEA Establishes AI Robotics Innovation & Development Center Focusing on Healthcare, Logistics, Food Services, and Disaster Response to Strengthen Core Competitiveness in Robotics

The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) announced today (May 19) the official opening of the AI Robotics Innovation & Development Center (ARIDC) at the Industrial Technology Research Institute's (ITRI) Liuja Campus. Jointly established by the MOEA, the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), and the National Development Council (NDC), the center focuses on integrating and validating critical smart robotics technologies. It will actively target four major application sectors: healthcare, logistics, food services, and disaster response, aiming to become a pivotal hub connecting international startups with domestic industries and research institutions to expand Taiwan's robotics ecosystem. By linking the NSTC's National Intelligent Robotics Research Center in Shalun and the intelligent robotics industry cluster in Liuying, the new facility will form Tainan's "AI Industry Golden Triangle," boosting competitiveness and helping Taiwanese suppliers secure a vital position in the global robotics supply chain.

2nd Best AI Awards Unveils Top 100: Twin Engines of Agentic AI and Edge AI Drive Industry Upgrades

The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) held the finals and award ceremony for the 2nd Best AI Awards at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 2 (TaiNEX 2) on Saturday, April 25. This year's competition attracted 1,487 teams from 36 countries worldwide, with international participation nearly doubling compared to the inaugural edition. From a pool of 253 finalist teams, 100 awards were selected. The eight most prestigious Gold Medals were awarded to teams from Delta Electronics, Kneron Inc., BioPro Scientific, Alpenglow Tek, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), National Formosa University (NFU), and representative teams from Thailand and Poland. Beyond showcasing the latest in AI hardware and software, the event highlighted the acceleration of these technologies into real-world industrial applications and forged international partnerships, significantly elevating Taiwan's standing and competitiveness in the global AI arena.
