Quad alliance leaders hold first meeting

The leaders of the Quad alliance of Australia, India, Japan, and the U.S. convened their first meeting virtually on Sept.25.
The informal alliance called the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue positions itself as being committed to a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific.
During the meeting, the leaders reiterated their commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific region that is “undaunted by coercion.”
They also discussed further cooperation on 5G telecommunications technology, cybersecurity, maritime exercises and intelligence sharing.
