Natural Killer cells (NK cells) are unique cells in the human immune system. However, compared to freshly isolated and highly activated cells, cryopreserved NK cells generally exhibit reduced viability, insufficient recovery, impaired cytokine secretion, and decreased cytotoxic activity after thawing, which significantly limits their clinical efficacy. In this work, we developed a simple, safe, and cost-effective strategy to preserve NK cell function after cryopreservation, establishing it as a key enabling technology for the development of NK cell–based therapeutic products.
