The 2022 Golden Pin Design Award and Golden Pin Concept Award received nearly 8,000 entries from 30 countries and regions around the globe. At the award ceremony held on December 2, the winners of the Best Design award were announced, which included designs from Hong Kong, Japan, China, the United States, Thailand and Taiwan. Among the winners, competitors from Taiwan performed exceptionally well, claiming 23 awards.
This year, a number of Taiwanese technological giants were among the awardees of the Golden Pin Design Award. The winning designs, including Pegatron's "Kaigio-Cam 360 Intelligent Video Conferencing System", ASUSTek's "ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED UX9702" foldable screen laptop, and Wistron's "BestShape Go" electric transformer scooter, demonstrated remarkable design, R&D, and manufacturing capabilities. In addition, designs such as "Hibang RE-fishing-Net Circular Eyewear" by Duolog Design and "WOKY Cha-Cha Uncoated Nonstick 32CM Wok" by WOKY exemplified the burgeoning creativity of Taiwanese start-up firms.
The winner list also reflected the innovative achievements of Taiwan's deeply rooted design powerhouse that spanned incredible and diverse areas with designs such as "2021 New Taipei City SDGs Voluntary Local Review", which utilized scrap materials; "Taiwan Indigenous TV News Program Package", which highlighted the beauty of Taiwan's nature and humanity; the renovated Chu-Kuang Express train "The Moving Kitchen"; the environmentally friendly and energy-saving housing project "Taisugar's Circular"; and the creative public service hub "YANGMING MT. LAB".
Moreover, two of the Best Design award recipients also won the Special Annual Award for introducing new paradigms to the industry. "Electoral Aesthetics-Referendum Bulletin Redesign" by Graphic Room and RE: LAB received the Special Annual Award (Social Design), while "EcoCal Laundry Detergent" by Picupi received the Special Annual Award (Circular Design).
