The Taiwan-Brazil Smart Industry Supply Chain Seminar Captures Business Opportunities for Brazil's Smart Cities
In order to enhance the bilateral relationship between Taiwan and Brazil, while creating more business opportunities for the private sectors of both sides, the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) and the Taipei Computer Association (TCA) co-hosted the "Taiwan-Brazil Smart Industry Supply Chain Seminar" on March 29 in Taipei.

A total of 38 representatives from Brazilian municipal and industrial groups took part in the "2023 Smart City Summit & Expo". To welcome large-scale business firms, the BOFT and TCA jointly organized the seminar and matchmaking activities, as well as invited Taiwanese companies to participate and explore opportunities.

Ms. Amelia W.J. Day, Secretary General of the BOFT gave opening remarks and witnessed the signing of three Memorandums of Understanding between the TCA and various Brazilian associations to jointly promote the development of smart cities between both sides. Mr. Rogério Rodrigues, CEO of the Mobicaxias Association, and Mr. Jack Lin, Manager of Advantech, delivered speeches during the seminar.

After the seminar, special arrangements were also made for Taiwanese and Brazilian business partners to conduct business matchmaking in the fields of urban planning, smart agriculture, and smart transportation that attracted over 30 companies from both sides to engage in more than 40 business matchmaking sessions.

Brazil is Taiwan's largest trading partner in South America. Bilateral trade in 2022 totaled US$3.823 billion. The BOFT will continue to assist Taiwanese and Brazilian businesses in order to further deepen bilateral economic and trade relations.
