According to the statistics, 537 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$2,625,539,000 were approved from January to March 2023. This indicates a decrease of 4.45% in the number of cases, and a decrease of 7.85% in FDI amount compared to the same period of 2022.

With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 8 cases were approved with an amount of US$11,400,000 from January to March 2023. This indicates a decrease of 38.46% in the number of cases, but a increase of 74.77% in the FDI amount compared to the same period of 2022. From July 2009 to March 2023, 1,564 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$2,577,654,000.

In terms of Taiwan’s outbound investment (excluding Mainland China), 123 projects were registered from January to March 2023 with a total amount of US$6,886,116,000, indicating an decrease of 16.89% in the number of cases, but a increase of 239.62% in the amount, as compared to the same period of 2022.

As for Taiwan’s outward investment to Mainland China, 87 applications have been approved from January to March 2023, indicating a decrease of 11.22% compared to the same period of 2022. The approved investment amount is US$757,773,000, 10.40% less than the same period in 2022.
