The handover ceremony for the new Chairman of Taiwan Sugar Corporation (Taisugar) was held at 10:00 a.m. today (20th) at the Taisugar Headquarters in Tainan City. Under the supervision of Chen Yi-Ling, Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the new Chairman, Yang Ming-Jou, received the company seal from the outgoing Chairman, Chen Chao-Yih, and took over as the 25th Chairman of Taisugar. During the event, Chairman Yang declared his commitment to lead the management team to strive forward together and polish the stellar image of the Taisugar Corporation.

According to Taisugar, the new chairman is a veteran civil servant who started from the grassroots and has been widely recognized for his expertise in urban management and public works. He had previously served as the acting mayor, deputy mayor and secretary general of the Kaohsiung City Government. As the son of farmers, he will uphold the spirit of diligence that he has embodied over his 40-year career in the public service system to lead his colleagues to work hard and keep up with the times, and to lead the Taiwan Sugar Corporation to greater heights with new concepts and strategies.

Taisugar stated that the outgoing Chairman, Chen Chao-Yih, has actively complied with the government's directives in developing Taisugar's industry parks in the direction of leasing but not selling, creating opportunities for industry development and vigorously promoting the full-scale modernization of pig farms during his current term of office (June 19, 2019 to the present). At the present stage, in addition to the operational Donghaifeng Agricultural Circular Park, modern pig farms in Huwei and Douliu in Yunlin County and Nanshalun in Tainan have also kicked-off trial operations. From now on, Chairman Yang will take over the baton of promoting the renovation and upgrade of modern pig farms, in order to change the stereotype of pig farms as NIMBY facilities and continue to provide the nation with excellent domestic meat products.

In addition, Chairman Yang pointed out that Taisugar plays a pivotal role and has a great responsibility in provisioning consumer goods, green energy technology, new agriculture and circular economy, etc. With great responsibility, he hopes to work closely together with all Taisugar employees, who are like family members to him. We are ready to roll up our sleeves and get down to business, said Chairman Yang, we will work together with our colleagues to improve business performance, ensure stable production of meat for the people's needs, and assist the country's industry and energy development, fulfilling the responsibilities and goals entrusted to Taiwan Sugar Corporation by the government.
