According to the statistics, 687 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$3,307,270,000 were approved from January to April 2023. This indicates a decrease of 5.76% in the number of cases, but an increase of 6.02% in FDI amount compared to the same period of 2022.

With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 9 cases were approved with an amount of US$12,447,000 from January to April 2023. This indicates a decrease of 47.06% in the number of cases, but an increase of 62.96% in the FDI amount compared to the same period of 2022. From July 2009 to April 2023, 1,565 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$2,578,701,000.

In terms of Taiwan's outbound investment (excluding Mainland China), 161 projects were registered from January to April 2023 with a total amount of US$7,448,972,000, indicating a decrease of 15.26% in the number of cases, but an increase of 232.70% in the amount, as compared to the same period of 2022.

As for Taiwan's outward investment to Mainland China, 121 applications have been approved from January to April 2023, indicating a decrease of 3.97% compared to the same period of 2022. The approved investment amount is US$903,683,000, 16.48% less than the same period in 2022.
