The Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs has been promoting the upgrading and transformation of the domestic home appliance industry since 2011, and commissioned the Metal Industries Research & Development Centre to promote the "Home Appliance Industry Assistance Program" to assist domestic companies in applying for the "Taiwan-made MIT Smiling Mark." With the government's investment, the domestic market share of locally produced appliances has increased from 40.7% in 2010 to 53% in 2022, solidifying the domestic market for home appliance products. In order to stimulate the infusion of creative design into domestic home appliance products, the "Home Appliance Creative Value-Added Competition" will be held in the year 2023. Participants, including industry professionals and students from universities and colleges, who are interested in design, are invited to incorporate innovative concepts with traditional home appliance products through elements such as smart technology, aesthetic value, and green energy, to enhance the value and market competitiveness of home appliance products.
In recent years, net-zero carbon emissions have become a future development trend. The Home Appliance Creative Value-Added Competition will fully adopt online registration this year and include the design of home appliance products that promote environmental sustainability as one of the important judging criteria, focusing on concepts such as environmental protection, energy saving, and recycling.
The competition is divided into two categories: the "General Group" and the "Corporate Sponsorship Group". The "Corporate Sponsorship Group " has invited cooperation from Panasonic Taiwan and Sampo Corporation to set the theme of the competition as "Integrated Design of Sustainable Living Space Home Appliances." Participants are encouraged to use ideas from post-pandemic lifestyles and incorporate the concept of LOHAS to design innovative home appliance products or integrated space home appliance designs that align with the "New Normal."
Registration for the 2023 Home Appliance Creative Value-Added Competition is now available online. The deadline for registration is August 25th. Designers, researchers, and students who are interested in product design are welcome to participate and showcase their creativity and enthusiasm for home appliance products.
