Industry Bureau's smart machinery industry smart manufacturing upgrade strong assists FCS cut into the NIKE supply chain
To enhance Taiwan's international competitiveness in smart machinery exports, the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs has been implementing the "Smart Manufacturing Upgrade Program for the Smart Machinery Industry" since 2020. The program aims to support and assist the industry in strengthening its capabilities. By the end of 2022, a total of 33 machinery and machine tool equipment manufacturers have been guided and subsidized through the program. These companies have successfully penetrated the global supply chains of prestigious clients, including the aerospace, semiconductor, robotics, transportation, and major manufacturing sectors in emerging markets such as India, Thailand, and Vietnam. Furthermore, they have received stringent validation (B-site) from international customers in Europe (Germany, Switzerland, Spain), the United States, and Japan. The program has yielded remarkable results, generating approximately 3 billion New Taiwan dollars in new orders.

An exemplary case within the program is the achievement of FCS Group. With the program's support, FCS Group has successfully developed an intelligent manufacturing solution for the plastic injection molding of sports shoe soles. This breakthrough has enabled FCS Group to enter the international supply chain of NIKE, the world's largest shoe manufacturer. Amid the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russo-Ukrainian War, FCS Group has played a crucial role in assisting NIKE in maintaining its leading position by establishing a versatile and flexible custom production line. Through comprehensive integration of intelligent technologies facilitated by the program, FCS Group has successfully passed NIKE's production line validation, resulting in substantial orders amounting to hundreds of millions of dollars.

As a leading Taiwanese manufacturer of plastic injection molding machines, FCS Group has effectively integrated communication protocols within its production line through the program. This integration has enabled networking of equipment and efficient utilization of a war room system for remote real-time process monitoring. Leveraging sensor data acquisition and employing advanced analytics and AI-driven predictive modules, the company achieves real-time diagnostics, proactively identifies and resolves anomalies, and enhances production capacity. FCS Group has also established a supply chain integration platform, enabling seamless connection with suppliers and achieving comprehensive traceability of manufacturing processes to ensure consistent product quality. By leveraging cloud-based applications, FCS Group proactively monitors equipment and components, diagnoses anomalies, and improves the efficiency of remote support services. Additionally, FCS Group has successfully implemented the cutting-edge micro-foaming technology in the plastic injection molding process, facilitating the production of high-quality sneakers with lightweight, high elasticity, and low deformation characteristics. These advancements solidify the company's capabilities in advanced smart manufacturing and expand its proficiency in cross-domain smart services. Consequently, FCS Group provides comprehensive solutions that align with international industry standards, as validated by international customer production lines.

Mr. Wang Chun-Hsien, CEO of FCS Group, expresses gratitude for the government's support and allocation of program resources, enabling FCS Group to successfully pass the rigorous B-site validation conducted by international customers, as well as gaining industry recognition. The company has achieved remarkable milestones, exporting numerous intelligent devices with sales amounting to 200 million New Taiwan dollars. This success has also broadened opportunities for collaboration with customers. It is estimated that sales will exceed 2.5 billion New Taiwan dollars within the next three years. With the remarkable technical expertise demonstrated by Taiwan's machinery industry and the guidance and assistance provided by the government, Taiwan aims to establish itself as a crucial contributor to the global high-level smart manufacturing sector. The government remains committed to fostering strong collaborations with industry players to solidify Taiwan's position in the international arena.
