The core concept of Lean Production is crucial for Smart Machinery towards Advanced Manufacturing. Since year 2020, IDB (the Industrial Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs) and TAMI (Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry) have been collaborating on Lean Production Subsidy Program (TPS Model -Toyota Production System) in supporting digitalization of Digital LEAN. Till nowadays (Y2023) 96 companies have been supported , including machinery manufacturers of facilities, components and processing respectively, as well as plastic and rubber industries. The above achievements are well approbated among the industry practitioners.

Wasting elimination, the core concept of Lean Production is meant to reduce defective products without further input of manpower or resources as a premise. Products pass QC (quality control) and meet customer expectation, simultaneously with cost down and profit margin up. Reflecting back to Smart Machinery Promotion Program initiated by IDB (The Industrial Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs) in Y2016, through which a brand new smart machinery industry ecosystem was established, which was when Lean Production was taken as a key technology competence index for intelligent progress, and for the time being it perfectly meets current demands.

Through Lean Production and Digital Integration Seminar and Taiwan-Japan TPS Elite Forum organized in Y2023, industry practitioners have acknowledged of the benefits by Lean Production. Besides, In  collaboration with Chumpower-the worldwide reputable domestic PET blow molding machine manufacturer, a demonstration and observation tour was conducted on site .Mr. Chih-ching Yang, Deputy Director-Generals of IDB (the Industrial Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs), mentioned in his speech that with TPS (Toyota Production System) digitalized, production lines in factories are upgraded. CFV (Carbon Footprint Verification) is requested by many countries and buyers. Owing to global Net Zero Emission demands, the lower the energy consumption during manufacturing, the higher the competitiveness of the products. Lean Production are encouraged to be digitalized for better corporate competence. Mr. Yi-jie Lin, Vice Chairman of TAMI (Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry) praised that consistent support and great sponsorship from IDB (the Industrial Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs) have helped carrying out TPS (Toyota Production System) among industries and wan higher OFR (Order Fill Rate) and  yield rate.

The IDB will continue promoting the implementation of Lean to various industries and joining hands with domestic industries. Wasting elimination of on-site materials, manpower and inventory control in the factory is being carried out to further dimensions including production, R&D (Research and Development), business management and so on. Industry practitioners and enterprises are encouraged to pursue ESG (Environment / Social / Governance) demands, and fulfill SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).
