Taiwan Pavilion Shines on Global Stage at 2024 MWC, leading Taiwan's Industries into the International 5G Ecosystem
The highly anticipated 2024 Mobile World Congress (MWC) kicked off with grandeur on February 26th in Barcelona, Spain. This year's exhibition focuses on six major areas: 5G/Beyond 5G, Internet of Things (IoT), Human-Centric AI, Industry 4.0, Innovative Technologies, and Digital DNA. The MWC has drawn the attention of global leading communication companies  such as Intel, Qualcomm, MediaTek, Nokia, Ericsson, Meta, Vodafone, and Orange. The Industrial Development Administration, MOEA, once again hosted the Taiwan Pavilion, leading 16 top-notch Taiwanese companies to showcase their 5G vertical integration capabilities on this global stage.

Under the theme "Expanding Vertical Application Horizons across Industries," Taiwan Pavilion showcased a wide array of innovations from the ICT industry. Exhibitors from Taiwan presented cutting-edge solutions spanning base stations, core networks, transmission networks, edge computing, and auxiliary industrial automation and vertical applications. Notable highlights included UfiSpace's 800Gbps core network transmission router, Alpha Networks' pioneering 5G open network 32T32R active antenna equipment, and Aethertek's introduction of Taiwan's first 5G millimeter-wave ultra-wideband array antenna module.

In collaboration with ADLINK, Jorjin, and Wave-In, Ataya introduced the world's first set of heterogeneous 5G private networks and a smart management platform. The Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) unveiled several leading technologies, including Taiwan's first non-terrestrial network (NTN) satellite communication base station compliant with 3GPP standards. Companies such as Synergy Design Technology, D-Link, Moxa, Tailyn, NEXCOM, Edgecore Networks, Wiwynn, and Chunghwa Telecom presented Open RAN, AI, and edge technologies solutions. The Taiwan Pavilion showcased Taiwan's supply chain capability. Through cross-industry collaboration, Taiwan makes great efforts to appeal to international clients and harness global market opportunities.

Furthermore, over the years, the IDA has facilitated establishing Asia's first TIP (Telecom Infra Project) Community Lab, which has nurtured increasingly more Open RAN products, propelling them onto the international stage. The TIP has also built connections with global testing platforms such as the NTIA (National Telecommunications and Information Administration), ITS (Institute for Telecommunication Sciences) in the US, SONIC Labs in the UK, and i14Y Lab in Germany. On February 27th, these organizations convened at the Taiwan Pavilion to jointly promote Open RAN development, facilitating Taiwanese companies to participate in the global 5G and Open RAN ecosystem.

The Taiwan Pavilion also attracted Chunghwa Telecom to co-host a reception, creating networking opportunities. In a significant collaboration milestone, the IDA partnered with TIP to extend invitations for the first time to more than hundred telecom conglomerates , system integrators, and esteemed guests to join the Taiwan Pavilion reception . Taiwan collaborative effort with those global telecom companies has significantly enhanced the reputation of Taiwanese vendors among international companies, enabling them to expand their global networks and explore new avenues for business growth.
