The 2024 Young Golden Pin Design Award held its grand award ceremony on May 26th at Hall 2 of the Nangang Exhibition Center, has announced the list of winners! This year, a total of 9 "Best of Young Golden Pin Design Awards," 61 "Young Golden Pin Design Awards," 3 "Young Golden Pin Special Awards for Circular Design," 3 "Young Golden Pin Special Awards for Packaging Design," and 58 "Young Golden Pin Sponsor Awards" were presented. The most anticipated highlight was the announcement of the 9 winners of the "Best of Young Golden Pin Design Awards," presented by representatives of the jury. These 9 winning student teams have received a cash prize and certificate, recognizing their hard work and excellence.
The Deputy Minister Chin-Tsang Ho of the Ministry of Economic Affairs delivered a speech at the award ceremony. He emphasized the importance of the Young Golden Pin Design Award in showcasing the imagination of emerging designers and their creative vision for future living. Over the years, Taiwan's "soft power" in design has become eyewitness fashion in products ranging from souvenirs to clothing and furniture. Deputy Minister Ho emphasized that design would not only be appreciated for its own sake but would also continue to add value to industries, cultivating a distinct "Taiwan Style" that showcases Taiwan's design prowess to the world. He commended this year's entries for aligning with international trends and creatively integrating concepts of AI and the circular economy, which is highly commendable. He encouraged all the participants of the Young Golden Pin Design Award to continue their efforts, aiming to turn Taiwanese design into a value-boosting force across various sectors.
This year, there were a total of 4,974 entries from 55 schools and 116 departments across Taiwan participating in the competition. During the preliminary stage, 608 entries were selected as finalists, receiving recognition as "Young Golden Pin Design Award Finalists." The final selection took place on May 24th at the 43rd Young Designers' Exhibition, where 134 works emerged as victorious in a fiercely competitive competition. The Young Golden Pin Design Award encompasses nine categories, including Product Design, Craft Design, Spatial Design, Fashion Design, Communication Design, Digital Imaging, Digital Interaction, Industry-Academia Collaboration, and Social Design. The "Best of Young Golden Pin Design Award" is presented to the work that receives the highest acclaim from the jury.
