The 2024 Malaysia-Taiwan Industrial Collaboration Summit kicked off on September 3 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, continuing its aim to promote economic and trade cooperation as well as talent exchanges, while deepening trade partnerships. The Summit, co-led by the Chinese National Federation of Industries (CNFI)and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers(FMM), gathered over 300 representatives from the industry, government, academia, and research sectors from both Taiwan and Malaysia. In his opening remarks, Mr. Der-Sheng Lin , Secretary General of the Industrial Development Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs highlighted that this year , marks the 8th year of the Malaysia-Taiwan Summit, and in response to global warming and climate change, promoting ESG and sustainable development are a shared goal for both parties. The "Textile" sub-forum added circular economy as a new topic, looking for exploring and creating new business opportunities for circular textile industries of both sides.
The keynote speech in the Summit this year highlighted the global hot topic of "Artificial Intelligence (AI)". Mr. Yi-Chin Tu, the founder of Taiwan AI Labs and Dr. Ho Chin Kuan, the Vice Chancellor of Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) shared with the audience the current development and opportunity of AI industry in Taiwan and Malaysia respectively. Two sub-forums "Textile" and "Smart City" were arranged and focused on the development of these two industries with in-depth discussions and business matchmaking to strengthen bilateral business connectivity . Four new MOUs were signed in the Summit with the hope to have more diversified cooperation and development between various industries of the two parties.
Having been in promotion of the international image and R&D outcomes of Taiwan's smart healthcare industry, a Malaysia-Taiwan AI medical device industry exchange meeting was held on Sep. 4, with the purpose to jointly promote a comprehensive AI-driven diabetic retinopathy care platform, showcasing how Taiwan's medical device companies and Malaysian healthcare system can work together to take well care of the health of the Malaysian people.
The Malaysia-Taiwan Industrial Collaboration Summit will continue to focus on the private sector. By implementing substantial cooperation between Taiwan and Malaysia and integrating and bridging information of both sides,
The Summit has achieved it aims for mutual benefit and a win-win target and will boost Taiwan and Malaysian industries to gain an early harvest advantage in the emerging Asia-Pacific market.
