The Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) launched a competition for its new project called GREENTOPIA: Sustainable MICE Cities, under the MEET TAIWAN plan in 2022. This international competition combined many sustainable concepts, such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), carbon neutrality, green environmental protection, etc. Business communities from all over the world were invited to participate in this competition. After the evaluation committee completed its review, five winning proposals from Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Vietnam were finally selected. The awards ceremony was held at the Taipei International Convention Center on November 17, 2022.
