Our Mission
Established by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) in 1979, the Department of Industrial Technology (DoIT) is committed to advancing industrial technologies in Taiwan with local and global partners. DoIT is primarily mandated to implement Technology Development Programs (TDPs) to consolidate the research capabilities and soft power of research institutes, industries and academia sectors to develop cutting-edge, crucial and multidisciplinary industrial technologies. DoIT also facilitates the creation of an innovation ecosystem that links industry, academia and research institutes to strengthen the nation’s industrial development capabilities and accelerate the nation’s industrial upgrading and value creation.

Industrial Technology Research Intsitute (ITRI)
ITRI, one of the world’s leading technology R&D institutions, has been pioneering industrial development since 1973. Through its branches across the world, ITRI has incubated more than 270 innovative companies.
Institute for Information Industry (III)
As a government think-tank, III promotes public policies that enhance the ICT industry and facilitate the development of the digital economy. III also encourages emerging industries, such as the digital content and cultural and creative industries, to promote trends of social innovation and entrepreneurships.
Development Center for Biotechnology (DCB)
DCB is dedicated to R&D in botanical drug products, pharmaceuticals, biologics, and innovative and explorative research in the preclinical stage of development and setting top priorities for attaining Investigational New Drug approvals by domestic and foreign regulatory agencies.
Food Industry Research and Development Institute (FIRDI)
FIRDI is one of the most comprehensive food research institutes in Taiwan. FIRDC strives to improve the sanitation and quality of processed foods. Its Bioresource Collection and Research Center is deemed the most comprehensive bioresource center in Asia.
Taiwan Textile Research Institute (TTRI)
With its aim to become one of the world’s leading textile research institutes, TTRI focuses on the development of key textile materials, functional apparel and home textiles, high value-added technical textiles, environmentally-friendly and energy-saving textile technologies, as well as textile testing and certification.
Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC)
MIRDC continuously develops leading technologies in metal and related areas such as Forming, Automotive, Mold & Precision Machining, Medical Device Technology and Healthcare.
Open New Window for Automotive Research & Testing Center (ARTC)
Backed by a large number of laboratories, ARTC has disposes of a global certification network in conjunction with European and US counterparts, providing one-stop services from R&D, design, manufacturing to certification to help Taiwan-made components compete in the global market.
Open New Window for Ship and Ocean Industries R&D Center (SOIC)
SOIC supports the development of Taiwan’s marine industry, applying its R&D achievements to marine engineering planning, ship and ocean platform design, technical services, and knowledge integration services.
